Dr R. K. Arya
Dr. R. K. Arya is a lawyer whose practice is focused on business law and the defence of health care professionals before their regulatory bodies and appeal boards. Dr Arya also regularly advises and assists other lawyers on such matters.

Apart from being an Ontario licensed lawyer, he is also currently a licensed and practicing dental surgeon. Dr. Arya was previously of Counsel and a former Prosecutor for the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Dr. Arya has spoken nationwide to various organizations and groups on a wide variety of legal matters concerning health care regulatory issues, informed consent, professional corporations, employment, technical service corporations, alternate health business arrangements, equipment leasing, professional risk management and business transactions. Similarly, Dr. Arya’s work has been published in various esteemed journals.

Dr. Arya is an avid traveller and hiking enthusiast. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Western Ontario, his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto; and his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Kashif Sher, LLB, MBA
Mr. Sher obtained his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School where he received an entrance award. He also received an M.B.A from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto where he graduated on the Dean’s List.  He advises individuals, professionals and corporate clients on complex matters in a wide-range of sectors.  He also regularly provides advice to other lawyers on legal matters.

Previously, he worked with a well respected Toronto-based law firm practicing corporate and litigation defence law for domestic and international clients. In his role, Mr. Sher worked on the representation of some of the world’s leading media, insurance, and airline corporations and worked with defence teams in cases before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition, he has also worked with the legal group of one of Canada’s leading investment banks in the area of venture capital and private equity.

He has authored numerous articles on legal issues ranging from health law to business law, and has provided research for a leading textbook on municipal liability. Mr. Sher is on the Board of Directors of several private companies and has been a Board Member of several Non-Profit Organizations.  Mr. Sher has also been appointed by the Attorney General of Ontario to the Justice of the Peace Appointments Advisory Committee.

Mr. Sher has travelled extensively throughout North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, reading, and martial arts.

Edward Merifield – External Litigation Counsel

Mr. Merifield completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University in Ottawa in
1974, majoring in History and English. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the
University of Windsor in 1977 and was called to the Bar in 1979.

He has been maintaining a general practice since 1979 in a broad range of practice areas
including Family Law, Wills and Estates, Corporate and Commercial Law and Real
Estate.

As counsel to Arya & Sher, Mr. Merifield brings a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Mr. Merifield is the father of four children who keep him busy. In his limited free time,
he enjoys scuba diving and various other outdoor activities.

Ronen Kurzfeld – External Immigration Counsel

Ronen Kurzfeld holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University in
Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He obtained his LL.B. degree from
Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.

At Osgoode, Mr. Kurzfeld participated in the prestigious Intensive
Programme in Immigration and Refugee Law during which time he was involved
in two internships.

Although Mr. Kurzfeld regularly represents clients in all types of
Canadian immigration and citizenship matters, he specializes in overseas
skilled worker applications, business immigration applications,
sponsorships, study and work permits temporary resident permits and other
overseas immigration matters. He also specializes in applications under
Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds in Canada.

Mr. Kurzfeld writes articles about immigration to local newspapers and has
been interviewed by Sun-Media about contemporary issues in Canadian
immigration law. He is regularly contacted by local immigration lawyers for
advice on a variety of immigration issues.
